VENDOR-FINDER CHATBOT: SETUP GUIDE ================================= You are building a chatbot that answers member buying questions from your own vendor list, ranked by member ratings. Everything runs in the browser; no server and no AI service are involved. Files in this kit: vendor-chatbot.html: the chatbot page itself (host it or embed it) csv-to-json.html: turns your vendor spreadsheet into chatbot data vendor-template.csv: the spreadsheet template to start from feedback-questions.txt: the member feedback question set README.txt: this file SETUP STEPS ----------- 1. Fill the template. Open vendor-template.csv in your spreadsheet app. Replace the two example rows with your own member vendors: one row per vendor, with the category id, its rating (1-5), review count, a member quote you have permission to use, and keywords separated by semicolons. Save as CSV. 2. Collect member feedback. Use the question set in feedback-questions.txt in your post-event survey or your annual member survey. You need real ratings before the rankings mean anything; do not invent them. 3. Convert your CSV to JSON. Open csv-to-json.html in a browser, paste your CSV, and click Convert. Copy the JSON it produces. 4. Paste your data into the widget. Open vendor-chatbot.html in a text editor. At the top of the script you will find the block marked PASTE YOUR DATA HERE. Replace the sample VENDOR_DATA array with your JSON and save. If you added your own categories, update the CATEGORIES list in the same block. 5. Embed the chatbot on your website. Upload vendor-chatbot.html to your site and embed it with an iframe, or paste its style, markup, and script into a CMS HTML block. The page shows the trust line by default: "Ranked by member ratings. Placement is never for sale." Keep it. 6. Set up the feedback report as a revenue line. The tutorial's last step shows how to package the aggregated feedback (category averages, trends, the quotes vendors love) into a report that vendors pay to receive. The chatbot stays free and member-facing; the report is what sponsors buy. 7. Maintain the list quarterly. Re-run the feedback questions each quarter, update the ratings and counts in your CSV, re-convert, and re-paste. Drop vendors with no reviews after a year, and add new ones your members report on. A stale list stops being trusted. TROUBLESHOOTING --------------- - "The chatbot covers four categories" fallback: your question hit no category keywords. Add buyer words to the category keyword lists. - Wrong category wins: check which keyword lists the question's words appear in; remove the stray keyword from the wrong list. - A vendor never appears: check its category id matches a category id exactly, and that its rating is a number from 1 to 5.
