Try it: check a member notice for plain language

This is the working version of the plain-language notice tutorial. It counts the sentences in a notice you paste, flags long sentences, possible passive phrasing, abbreviations and hard terms from your own word list, and shows the counts for a rewrite beside the original. It leaves the rewriting and the meaning check to people.

Your text never leaves this tab. This page counts words and looks for patterns in what you paste. It uploads nothing and stores nothing. Each box reads up to 50,000 characters. It does not say whether a notice is clear. A person has to read it. Reload the page to forget the text.

Settings you choose

The 20 and the 30 are example settings, not standards. The word list is a starting point. Add the terms your own notices use. A term is matched as a whole word, so "remit" does not catch "remittance".

Paste the notice text in the first box, or load the sample, then press Check.
