IntermediateTry it: check a member list for duplicate and stale records
This is the working version of the member record tutorial. It opens the synthetic sample list or a CSV of your own, compares records that share a name, email, phone or address, and lists the pairs a person should look at, with a score and a reason for each. It also lists records with old or missing dates.
Needs these column names in the first row: member_id, first_name, last_name, email, phone, street, zip, last_activity, last_reviewed. Dates look like 2026-09-30. Other columns are ignored.
Settings you choose
These numbers are examples, not standards. Results update when you change a setting. The sample uses 4 October 2026 as its as-of date, so its result stays the same.

How this lab works
- It reads and reports. Nothing is merged, edited or deleted, and the download holds ids, scores and reasons only.
- Close names score high, shared contact details add to the score. Two records with clearly different first or last names stay below the review list, even when they share an email.
- The settings are yours. The score bands and the date windows are examples, not standards.
- The sample is synthetic. Six pairs were planted and two look-alike pairs are different people. It is a teaching example, so it measures the rules, not real-world accuracy.
- Local files only. The script is served from this site and the page makes no other request for your data.
Starter kit
The starter kit holds this page to run on your own computer, the same checks as a Node script, the sample list, a column template, a review checklist and a threshold worksheet. Free with your email through the form below; the download link appears after you subscribe.
