BeginnerTry it: check event photos before building a 3D scene
This is the working version of the event photo tutorial. It reads a set of JPEG or PNG photos you choose, or a built-in set of invented photos, and lists one row per photo with flags for a short side that is too small, a photo that is too dark or too bright, a photo much softer than the rest of the set, a near copy of an earlier photo and location tags still inside the file. It builds no 3D scene and does not change, move or delete any photo.
Your photos
The sample sets are invented renders of boxes on a floor, with no real venue and no people.
Thresholds you choose
Every starting number is a placeholder chosen for this lab, not a standard, and no source gives a minimum number of photos. Replace each one with what suits your room and camera.

How this lab works
- Everything on the page runs in your browser. The kit's script runs the same per-photo checks from a command line and adds the overlap check, an optional face-like region check and a step that writes copies without location tags, which the page cannot do.
- It flags and changes nothing. A flagged photo stays where it is. The report lists the flags so a person can retake, delete or keep the photo.
- Limits. JPEG or PNG only, and a HEIC file is refused with a message to export it as JPEG. At most 60 photos, 20 MB per photo, 400 MB in total and 24 megapixels per photo. A selection over any limit is refused before any photo is decoded, naming the file. Larger sets take longer, and the page shows a progress bar.
- The blur flag is relative. It compares each photo with the median of the set, so a set where every photo is equally soft raises no blur flag.
- The sample photos are invented. They are renders of boxes on a floor with problems planted by us, so a clean match shows only that the code does what it says. They are free to reuse.
- Local only. The script is served from this site, and the page makes no other request for your photos. The page was tested in one desktop browser only.
Starter kit
The starter kit holds this page to run on your own computer, the script, the invented sample photos, a capture checklist, a photo notice template and a check for the page markup around a 3D embed. Free with your email through the form below; the download link appears after you subscribe.
